    Hunger

Every year 11 million children younger than 5 will die needlessly, more than half from hunger-related causes.
Few of these deaths are related to outright starvation, but rather to common illnesses (like diarrhea, acute respiratory illness, malaria and measles) that move in on vulnerable children whose bodies have been weakened by hunger.
Freedom from Hunger concentrates its services on the world’s poorest nations where, on average, 27% of children under 5 are moderately to severely underweight, 10% are severely underweight, 8% of children under 5 are moderately to severely wasted, or seriously below weight for one’s height, and an overwhelming 32% are moderately to severely stunted, or seriously below normal height for one’s age.
In the developing world, more than 1.2 billion people currently live below the international poverty line, earning less than $1 per day.
Among this group of poor people, many have problems obtaining adequate, nutritious food for themselves and their families. As a result, 815 million people in the developing world are undernourished. They consume less than the minimum amount of calories essential for sound health and growth.
Undernourishment negatively affects people’s health, productivity, sense of hope and overall well-being. A lack of food can stunt growth, slow thinking, sap energy, hinder fetal development and contribute to mental retardation.
Economically, the effort of constantly securing food consumes valuable time and energy of poor people, allowing less time for work and earning income.
Pregnant women, new mothers who breastfeed infants, and children are among the most at risk of undernourishment.

    Ang Mo Kio Man

Just happen to knoe that the Man killed in the Clementi MRT a couple of days back....yes, the second case, reside in Ang Mo Kio. Isn't it gahment by Mr Wee, the recently so in limelight MP of Ang Mo Kio GRC?

Apparantly it's another poor chap who's living in poverty, in debts and feedin on instant noodles...taking into account tat the 1st case of MRT sucide churn in $500,000 for the 1st victim family, perhaps try to achieve the same for his.

Now tat this is the second case in recent news, probably 2 weeks apart, all local/major....er...only 1 (SPH)newspapers seems to abandon old news. Just a small clipping and writeup and main concern is the traffic heldback caused by this sucide. So it seems tat the donations are not pouring in as expected. (Well, just goes to prove that in order to make $, you got to be innovative and the first to be doing it....even in sucide in this sad case.)

Until such cases happen, gahment then say, come to us if u're in need...we'll help you. kindly fill up this application form and our staff will get back to you shortly(wat exactly is the meaning of shortly?) if we found tat u're qualify for our funds. And the elites will say, it's the suvival of the fittest!, get out of my elite uncaring face....another one bites the dust.

Wonder if such cases will happen if the money goin to the Scholarship progamme for elites like Wee Shu Min are redirected in helpin the poor and needy. Wat's the point of being so high educated when one becomes so cold and unfeeling towards the less fortunate? N u expect ppl like her to serve and lead the country in the future? Can you imagine her being an MP and involve in the weekly meet the people session, telling them to Fark off from my face and it's ur bloody fault for being poor and useless! so stop complainin to me about ur problems, blame urself, ur family and everybody around u for not being AN ELITE!

Now pardon me for my incensed diatribe tat was written in pathetic little scraps that passed off as sentences, with poor spelling and no grammar.

    I wonder

I realise for the past few days, after including the name Wee Shu Min in my blogging articles, the number of hits went up by like 2000%!....I kid u not...and nope..u didn't see wrongly, it's 2000%...TWO THOUSAND....

Imagine this i usually have only abt 1-2 hits....suddenly i had 200plus hits a day. Just happened tat the name Wee Shu min is also in the top ten list of technorati most popular. Interesting fact?

Wat happen if i try to link all the tags in the top ten most popular/search list?

However, I must admit tat I dun really read about news overseas, example John Kerry belittles US military...ok, i know the headlines but the whole story...nah..i'm clueless. I've yet to explore the video clip in youtube about it. Maybe i will do a search in google. Tell me abt Xiaxue and i might know a thing or two.

And whos' Ted Haggard tat is suddenly hoggin the most popular list?...hmm....time to do some reading up and research. I'm totally lost.

Wat abt scrybe and borat? Sorry man...u gotto find it out yourself!!...maybe u can drop me a comment or two to tell me more perhaps?...

    Cheers

Wee Shu Min's Sage Part 2

Finally after some digging and research...the story of Wee shu min unfold.

    Background

Wee Siew Kim (born 19 August 1960) is a current Member of the Parliament of Singapore in the Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency (Jalan Kayu) since 2001, representing the current ruling People's Action Party. He is currently serving through his second term after winning in the 2006 general elections. He had his education in Raffles Institution, followed by the Imperial College of Science and Technology in London, followed by a MBA in Stanford University. Currently, he is the president of the defence business section in Singapore Technologies Engineering since the year 2000. Wee is married with four children.

    Wee Shu Min

One of Mr. Wee's daughters, Wee Shu Min, found herself in an Internet scandal on October 2006 for posting on her blog what is viewed by Singaporeans to be elitist[1], naive and insensitive statements against heartlanders.[2] Dismissing the views of a Singaporean Derek Wee who voiced concerns on job security and age discrimination on his blog, she shot back with a take-no-prisoners diatribe[1][3] that Derek is a "stupid crackpot", "the sadder class", overreliant on the government, and in Singapore where society is "far too survival of the fittest" and to "get out of my elite uncaring face".[4] Following intense criticism by netizens on her post as highly insensitive at a time where coincidentally a high-profile suicide of a poverished heartlander at Chinese Garden MRT Station was heavily publicised[5][6] and her name topping Technorati's search terms for a week, she has since appeared to have apologised on another blog and shut down her own.[2]
A 18 year old student on Raffles Junior College's scholarship programme, her father has spoken out that he supported Shu Min's point in principle[7], and her college principal have expressed some disappointment and counselled her to be more sensitive towards others. Her father has also claimed that her privacy has been violated. [2] Critics point out however, that her father appears to have endorsed her elitist remarks and has failed to cover more important values such as empathy and humility, the government has previously made it clear that there was no such thing as privacy with the imprisonment of bloggers under the Sedition Act about more than a year earlier, [8] and that Shu Min should be old enough to take responsibility the consequences of her statements.[1]
Two days after Wee Siew Kim had first spoken out on The Straits Times, he has since made an apology to those felt were offended by statements made in his interview and in particular to Derek Wee,[9] though netizens were left wondering that if it was genuine or tokenistic to appease.[7][1] Commentators point out from this controversy the Singapore is suffering from increasing signs of political elitism creeping into its meritocracy model, a widening social stratification that will cause long-term implications for the Singapore society,[6] and problems in the education system that needs to be addressed.[3]

Anybody with more info on QSTR kindly email me or drop me a comment...although SGD$25 is

    Secondary school story

Secondary school, it’s either the beginning of a new era of your teenage life or the end of your childhood. The school I chose to go into is because as a guy when you get promoted to upper sec, you get to wear pants. You are right; my initial choice is to get into one of the top Sap school in the country, The Chinese High School. But when I know that it’s a pure boys school, I back out. Now for plan B, the next choice that is near to my home (Btw, I stay in west area) is river valley high school. Co-ord with gals. Yuppie. But still, no pants in upper sec.

I gave up searching for the perfect school of my dream. I went into Fairfield Methodist Secondary School. Little did I know that even though it’s co-ord school, lower secondary classes stills gets divided amongst boys and girls. Arh…well, only comfort I get is at least u get to gore at the girls in our own school compound and yes, I get to wear pants.

First 2 years of my secondary school life just zap by without any many happenings. Boys class, boys talk with all the interest and energy gather around silly boys’ games like catching spiders, exchanging shiny collectable cards, engross in Street fighters and stuff. Girls are just the occasional treats to the eyes, nothing more beyond that. Perhaps at my age and my time, the thinking of BGR is not as common as it is of today, internet is considered alien to us. Be happy with a 286 processor computer if you do happen to own one. Hey, what do u expect from a guy who’s primary school days still require u to brush ur teeth by the drain??!!. Not forgetting the weekly ordering of milk packets.

Thus, we are extremely excited by the thought of proceeding to upper secondary whereby girls and boys co-exist together in a tiny little class room. 30 in number to be exact. A few kakis of mine decided to opt for the same class studying geography (Who cares abt history when there is a saying, let bygones be bygones. Haha, my guess is whoever come invented this sayings probably hates history) and thus ending up in the same upper sec class. So coincidental that our grades are almost similar. Perhaps due to the excess copying of answers, cheating and not payin attention during our lessons.

    Halloween

    Facts of life 2

Calvin was invited to his friend's home for dinner.

David, the host, preceded every request to his wife by endearing terms, calling her

Dearie, Honey, My Love, Darling, Sweetheart, Pumpkin, etc.

Calvin looked at David and remarked, "That is really nice, that after all these years that you

have been married, you still call your wife by these pet names."

David hung his head and whispered,

" To tell the truth, I forgot her name three years ago."

    Facts of life

A journalist had done a story on gender roles in Kuwait several years before the Gulf War, and

she noted then that women customarily walked about 10 feet behind their husbands.

She returned to Kuwait recently and observed that the men now walked several yards behind

    their wives.

She approached one of the women for an explanation. "This is marvelous," said the journalist.

"What enabled women here to achieve this reversal of roles?"

To which the Kuwaiti woman replied:

    "Land mines."

    Haze in Singapore

Damn those forest fires and damn those fire starters.

Makes me feel as if I'm in genting, only difference haze is Singapore is smokey and the haze of genting is cooling and refreshing!

The haze that is blanketing Singapore comes from central Kalimantan.

    True Friends

Have you ever wonder sometimes, those friends around you who are truly your friends?

In terms of troubles and needs, who are those friends whom will truly stick their heads out on the chopping board for you?

I've many friends around me, working colleagues, associates, etc...

My handphone contract list have almost 400 plus names. N when in actually need or trouble, there's only actually a handful I can actually called.

N out of those handful I called, about a quarter responded to my plea.

Sad and shameful to say, these few true friends who responded are actually having the least contacts with me.

I didn't actually spend time with them. Some ask me out for drinks, dinner...Etc and time and again I've procrastinate my meeting up with them.

Those that hang around much with me are those that are full of excuses in time of needs.
Not blaming them, they have their own commitments.

True friends are hard to come by. Treasure them. I'll tell you more in my next entry.

    New Nursery Rhyme

Last posting for today....next update will be on Monday 16th Oct. Stay Tune!

Humpty Dumpty Sat on the Wall,

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall,

All the King's horses and all the King's men,

Said, Aiya leave him alone lah....he's only an EGG!

    Hmm....Kids nowadays

One day a sweet little girl becomes puzzled about her origin.

"How did I get here, Mommy?" she asks.

Her mother replies, using a well-worn phrase, "Why God sent you, Honey."

"And did God send you too, Mommy?" she continues.

    "Yes, Sweetheart, he did."

"And Daddy, and Grandma and Grandpa, and their moms and dads, too?"

"Yes, Honey, all of them, too."

The child shakes her head in disbelief. "Then you're telling me there's been no sex in this

family for over 200 years? No wonder everyone is so grouchy!"

    Not for the UNDERAGE!!

A woman was helping her husband set up his computer, and at the appropriate point in the

process, told him that he would now need to enter a password..

Something he will use to log in. The husband was in a rather foul mood and figured he

would try for the shock effect to bring this to his wife's attention. So, when the computer asked

him to enter his password, he made it plainly obvious to his wife that he was keying in

    P E N I S

His wife fell off her chair laughing when the computer replied:

*** PASSWORD REJECTED. NOT LONG ENOUGH ***

    Millions of Dollars

I've spend the entire morning surfing thru the net, trying to find a method to make money online, and u know wat? I'm back to square 1.

4 hours later after signing up for some (at least 5) guru website that teaches you how to make money fast, easy....cars, houses, leverage holidays, health products....etc

In the end, my conclusion is that I'm definately not cut out for this kinda money. Guess the one thing i did is to make them richer instead of me earning something.

Hell i even sign up as a ebay seller....but dunno wat to sell. haha. N i remember tat somebody actually manage to sell an old rusty nail for USD $150!!!. The buyer says she's drunk tat night and she's hoping to get nail!...yes u heard it right, SHE!

I believe being in the right place at the right time doing the right thing is one of the way of making it rich. Being hard working only let u lead a comfortable life.

So here i'm back writing my blog...hoping to gain more traffic...hoping to get back some or that handful of my readers as well as to increase the $1.35 that i've earn from adsense since the start of my blog. Not bad for 2 years of blogging with 9 months inactive.

    Updates

It's been a super long time since I've updated my blog...well just an update of wat i've been up to.

I'm currently working in a manufacturing company as the factory manager.
My younger brother is currently studying in New Zealand.

N i hope to be able to update my blog as frequency as possible.

Funny facts from Truth or Fiction

It's been quite a while since I last updated my blog. Busy with Christmas, New year celebration....all of these celebrations plus alcohol intoxication makes my brain block and mind blank thus empty blog entry for past few days. Haha. Anyway, here's an interesting website that i came across and decided to share it with you guys.

    About TruthOrFiction.com

TruthOrFiction.com is a web site where Internet users can quickly and easily get information about eRumors, warnings, offers, requests for help, myths, hoaxes, virus warnings, and humorous or inspirational stories that are circulated by email.

NORFOLK Naval Air Station Virginia -- One of the military's largest transports got stuck at the end of a runway atop the I-564 overpass for more than 16 hours. It was unable to turn around at the West end of Chambers Field at the Norfolk Naval Station.

The incident forced the closing of the field to all but helicopter traffic and made for a dramatic sight for hundreds of motorists passing beneath it during morning rush hour. "That thing's like a big building sitting there.'' said motorists.

The nose of the aircraft actually stuck out and OVER the Interstate! The aircraft's nose was so far over the end of the ramp, the crew was unable to see the runway where it was supposed to turn around so the pilot simply had to leave it at the end of the runway.

The Air Force C-5 Galaxy, largest airplane in the free world, is almost as long as a football field and as high as a six-story building.

Weighing 420 tons with a full load, it uses a system of 28 wheels to distribute its weight. The aircraft had to wait for a specially made tow bar trucked in from Dover, Delaware!

When the tow bar arrived, it was used to hook the C-5 to a tractor that then turned the aircraft around. The plane was not damaged. (Image and article from www.truthorfriction.com)

    Nature Sightings

When is the last time you look up the sky and see beautiful sightings such as rainbows arches across the bright blue sky in a sunny day?

I happened to took this photo with my Nokia HP when i was stopped at a traffic junction near my house.

I just had to stop my car to take another photo.

How about rainbow surrounding the sun?

Doesn't these natural sightings just calm you down after a long hectic day of hard work? It sure works for me. Maybe it's another sign that the top lottery toto prize of $600,000 is working it's way towards me!!
Hahaha....Didn't you know? Rainbow represents luck!

    True Faith

2005 will soon pass, looking back at what I've achieve for the past year, I really wonder if it's a year wasted. Every year I'll try to make a new year resolution but always failing to achieve what I've targeted. For 2006, my new year resolution should be to achieve whatever my resolution is!

That reminds me of a good friend of mine, Liqiang. Sometime back in 1996, we were celebrating new year's eve together and we vow to fulfill our resolutions for once. My resolution is to cut down on my spending spree while his is to stop taking taxis. 5 mins into 1997, he took a taxi home!

This is what i call True Faith!!

    Something to Ponder On.

If your father is a poor man,
    it is your fate but,
if your father-in-law is a poor man,
    it's your stupidity.

    Practice makes perfect.....
    But nobody's perfect......
    so why practice?

If it's true that we are here to help others,
then what exactly are the others here for?

How come "abbreviated" is such a long word?

Behind every successful man, there is a woman
And behind every unsuccessful man, there are two.

    Every man should marry.
After all, happiness is not the only thing in life.

    The wise never marry,
and when they marry they become otherwise.

    Success is a relative term.
    It brings so many relatives.
